Tongchuan People's Hospital was founded in 1949. It is a tertiary-level A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation. It undertakes public health services such as emergency treatment, disaster relief, foreign aid, agricultural support, border support and counterpart support in Tongchuan. It is a teaching hospital of many universities such as Yan'an University, Xi'an Medical College, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine; a non-directly affiliated hospital of the School of Medicine of Xi'an Jiaotong University and the School of Medicine of Yan'an University; the Tongchuan People's Hospital Demonstration Base of Shaanxi Precision Medicine Gene Testing Demonstration Center, the Postdoctoral Workstation of the National Micro-Detection System Engineering Technology Research Center, the National "13th Five-Year Plan" Major Project H-Type Hypertension Precision Medicine Cooperation Center, the National Kidney Disease Clinical Medicine Research Center, the Shaanxi Provincial Children's Internal Medicine Disease Clinical Medicine Research Center, and the Shaanxi Provincial Hemophilia Diagnosis and Treatment Tongchuan Branch Center.
